There is nothing better than to enter into a relaxing clean home after a long day at work. Vacuum robots have been around a long time, however, until recently the purchase prices have been too much for the average home owner. These app controlled wifi vacuum robots can do everything from cleaning to moping and help themselves back to the charging dock station. The recent advances in technology have helped bring the vacuum robots down to a reasonable cost for the average home owner.
If you have always wanted your own personal robot to dust clean but couldn’t handle the high price tag of the early robotic vacuums, it’s time to take another look. Robot Vacuums were so dominant early on that it was fast becoming a generic term. However, at least a dozen companies now make robot vacuums, including well-known brands such as Samsung, Sharp and Black & Decker, plus vacuum specialists such as Ecovacs, Neato and Bissell.
Here’s what our reviews about the latest models and technology have learned. The biggest concern we hear is do they plan on replacing your traditional vacuum with a robotic one. Vacuum Robots have come a long way, but you’ll still need an upright or canister vacuum for deeper cleaning and for stairs.
Unfortunately there are numerous brands and features that seem overwhelming when trying to decide which app controlled vacuum robot is right for you. To help you decide, we have tried multiple brands and have outlined recommendations in the form of pros and cons below:
Pros:
- Runs up to 90 minutes
- Auto adjust cleaning head works on carpets and floors
- Goes around and under Furniture
- Includes Edge sweeping
- Wifi with the Roomba and EcoVac App work will with Alexa/Google
- Automatically goes back to docking station to charge when battery is low
- Virtual wall barrier allows you to pick certain areas you want to vacuum robot to clean
- Works great on pet hair
Cons:
- Sometimes gets stuck around objects that are just slightly below the height of the vacuum robot
- Have to scissor hair out of brush once every couple of weeks (regular vacuums have this problem also)
- If docking station is not at a straight angle it may take the vacuum longer than usual to find it
Overall we have tried the ECOVACS Deebot M80 (moping capability), Roomba 620, 690, and 960 and ECOVAC Deebot 901 Laser being the best in overall performance.
